Counselling and mental health training
Hi! My name is Kate Reid. I've worked in the field of mental health for over 20 years. While studying at University I worked for a mental health charity in a variety of roles supporting service users in the community and in hospital. I've worked as a counsellor for over a decade now, beginning my work with a domestic abuse charity where I worked with clients' presenting issues that included (but were not limited to) anxiety, borderline personality disorder, depression, domestic abuse, family dynamics, loss and self esteem.
I now work in private practice and have added teaching and supervision to my skillset along the way. As a qualified teacher and with more than 8 years experience, I thoroughly enjoy teaching and facilitating groups. I'm an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I'm also a member of the British Infertility Counselling Association (BICA).
I specialise in working with survivors of domestic abuse. I provide individual and group supervision. I offer workshops and bespoke training programmes on a variety of mental health and counselling topics. My clinical interests relate primarily to fertility and specifically women who have experienced rape and fertility issues.
My therapeutic approach is integrative (Person-Centred and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). I explore my client's needs and then tailor my approach accordingly. Understanding how we can work together to achieve what you want us to work on and building a relationship which supports our work is a priority for me. Equally as important is that you feel heard and validated.
